Why are you not willing to sacrifice your careers to save the lives of people? What is it going to take for you to uphold your sworn constitutional duty? This president is guilty of:
1. Deceiving Congress, the media, & the American public about the reasons for going to war in Iraq;
2. Secret spying on Americans without search warrants or judicial review;
3. Claiming presidential authority to detain indefinitely anyone, including U.S. citizens, as “enemy combatants” without charge, without counsel, & without the right of habeas corpus;
4. The torture & abuse of military detainees in Guantanamo, Iraq, & Afghanistan;
5. Covert abduction of detainees to secret prisons in other countries to be interrogated through torture;
6. Undermining the Constitutional separation of powers by changing hundreds of Congressional laws with “signing statements,” & acting in defiance of Congressional subpoenas;
7. Abusing presidential power in keeping secret their actions from legislative, judicial, & public scrutiny.
Yet you have sat idly by for the past six years while he has raped and abused the Constitution of the United States in which it contains five separate articles about impeachment. Impeachment is the most widely discussed power the forefathers addressed in the Constitution yet you just brush it aside. By ignoring impeachment or even the conversation of, you are ignoring your constitutional duties and therefore failing your congressional office.
You state that “…These were long, protracted, and divisive fights which diverted the attention of the Congress from the pressing problems facing the country. With less than a year and a half left in the president’s term in office, it is doubtful whether the House and Senate could complete actions in the months remain… Congress is better served devoting our attention to the important and vital work of bringing our troops home form Iraq, tackling the long neglected domestic priorities here at home and doing all we can to force this administration to respond to the will of the American people.”
There is no greater problem or threat facing our country at this time than George W. Bush and Richard Cheney! With still sixteen months left in office, the growing disdain for the war, the countless crimes against humanity and the American people and the continual erosion of rights and freedoms, the time is now for action in impeaching the president and vice president before there is no America left to speak of.
