I just called my congressman (Rep. C.A. Ruppersberger (D-MD 2nd)) for the fifth week in a row trying to get his position on HR 333 and I finally got an answer.
To paraphrase, he's basically saying that because there's only a year and a half left in the vice president's term that impeachment proceedings would take up too much time in the House when they should be focusing on other things. Bringing home the troops, ending the war in Iraq, etc. etc. I told the woman I was talking to that impeachment would solve both of those problems but I don't think she was hearing me!
I don't understand why a representative of the people does what he thinks should be done instead of listening to the people he represents. Though the woman I was talking to said that the congressman felt like he was doing the will of the people based on the 2006 elections. I told her that the people are demanding impeachment but again, I don't think she was hearing me!
What is it going to take to get these people, the People's people, to start doing the will of the people!? I think it's going to take some people, people like us, to run as independents against the incumbents for the actual will of the majority of U.S. citizens to get done!
Democratic congressional men and women, minus a few of course, more and more are making me have disgust for the Democratic Party. No matter what Democrats say about Republicans being partisan, the same can be said about Democrats. Politics is a horrible game no matter if you're a Democrat or Republican.
Dennis Kucinich is one of the few people that I think really cares and wants to make a difference as president. It's a shame that, as I've stated before, it almost doesn't matter your ideals as long as you have the millions to run.
I also blame the media. It seems as though they've already predicted who the next president will be. All I hear every day on the news is Hillary did this or Obama said that. They don't even talk about the people who have real ideas for the country like Kucinich.
I hope there's an upset and Kucinich is elected president! I think that will be the first day that America is returned to its original ideals!
